Candidate for District 1 Supervisor Julia Bono provides details of her running platform.



Candidate Julia Bono has released the initial version of her running platform for the position of Lake County Supervisor for District 1 on her official Facebook Page here. In it, she boldly invites District 1 voters to elect her to :

“Support a New Vision for Lake County.”

Bono also clarifies her overall goals in running for her target office, stating that she aims to:

"Responsibly represent, consider and protect the health and economic well-being of the residents of our district and our shared environment while working toward achieving the highest common good for all concerned."


She also mentions her impressive qualifications for the position of District 1 Supervisor, including having extensive business and non-profit leadership experience and a "talent for intelligent problem solving" to compliment her broad-based financial, scientific and literary professional background.

Platform Details


With respect to her platform itself, Candidate Bono mentions 12 specific points that she supports as follows:

(1) Upholding the 2010 Middletown Area Plan and preserving the unique small-town character of Middletown for present and future generations. (2) Conservation of our outstanding local flora, fauna, beauty spots, scenery, water and air quality. (3) Forward-thinking, creative and intelligent planning rather than merely reacting to crises. (4) Promoting wildfire prevention, safety and preparedness programs for residents. (5) Maintaining a high standard of transparency, ethics and moral responsibility in Lake County’s local government. (6) Encouraging local schools, restaurants and other businesses to serve and partner with the public in ways that promote the general well-being of our district’s residents and economy. (7) Developing and sensitively restoring local parks to become beautiful and safe places for current and future residents to gather and enjoy nature. (8) Forest restoration and tree-planting projects to repair ecosystems damaged by wildfire. (9) Programs to bring more grant funds into the non-profit organizations and agencies operating in our district. (10) Promoting cultural events to enhance the lifestyle of our district’s residents and to create a greater sense of community. (11) Assisting local business owners in offering well-paying and interesting employment for residents. (12) Addressing the affordable housing shortage in our district by promoting safe and viable planning options beyond single family homes that would include residential land-based communities, temporary dwellings and tiny houses, as well as promoting the use of construction materials more suitable for a wildfire-prone region.

She also welcomes voters in her district to reach out to her to ask how she stands on specific issues of particular concern to them.
